The City of Coral Springs Public Art Program began with the first “Sculpture on Sample” exhibition in the fall of 2005. Since then, seven sculptures have been purchased for display on Sample Road, Sportsplex Drive and Cypress Park. Other artworks will be installed in 2008 at the City Gym, Whispering Woods Park and University Drive and Riverside Drive. All these artworks are funded by fees paid to the Public Art Trust Fund by private developers.
Property developers may choose to purchase artworks rather than pay the art fee. The first two artworks commissioned by owners for their new developments were installed in 2007 on Sample Road and Wiles Road.
Thank you to all the citizens that provided more than 750 comments about the artworks on Sample Road. The Public Art Committee has recommended the purchase of "Laura's Ego" by James Burnes of New Mexico and "Reclining Nude" by Micajah Beinvenu of Washington State. All the eight sculptures will be displayed in Coral Springs until the middle of April, so please download the Exhibition Guide and visit the works.

Please contact Glenn Weiss during the early site plan design phrase to discuss the public art program. Most developers must either create public art for a new development or contribute to the City’s Public Art Fund. If you purchase public art for your building, early site planning can improve the project and speed the approval processes. Email or phone for an appointment. Click here for the webpage regarding Public Art Requirements.
The city will maintain a database of public art consultants for use by private developers in Coral Springs. Email name, company, location, email address, website, phone, electronic resume/profile and three recent client references for public art projects in one Microsoft Word file. Only electronic, no paper will be accepted. Embed at least three low jpgs of recent projects. MS WORD file size should not exceed 500KB. Send to cdgww@coralsprings.org
The Coral Springs Museum of Art sponsors an annual artist-in-residence to create a new work of art for the Museum collection. Several works are displayed on the Museum grounds and in the new Peace Garden. Please visit the website at http://www.csmart.org/
